BES Utilities shortlisted for top business customer service award

BES Utilities has been named as a finalist in the ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ category at this year’s prestigious Utilities & Telecoms Awards.

To be shortlisted companies have to prove their commitment to putting customers first. This includes instilling a culture of fair treatment within the organisation, setting clear expectations to staff, measuring performance and demonstrating fair outcomes for consumers.

We have worked extremely hard over the past year to further enhance our customer service, including investing significantly in new systems and processes to improve the overall experience. We have also rolled out a new ‘Treating Customers Fairly Charter’ which includes face-to-face staff training and regular monitoring to ensure service teams are up to speed with key policy and product knowledge.

With ourselves being a smaller, independent and family-run energy group, to be nominated for the award is a fantastic achievement, particularly being up against such major industry players as British Gas and npower.

Damien Fryer, Head of Operations, said, “To be shortlisted for this award against some of the ‘Big Six’ energy companies is thrilling, as it recognises the hard work and commitment of all our people to ensure customers get the best possible service. We’re especially excited to have been selected as finalists, as this is the first time we’ve entered this award.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 18 September.
