BES Smart Metering

Call us today for details of how to receive a FREE smart meter, bring an end to estimated bills and help reduce your carbon footprint!

We want to play our part in ensuring the UK’s energy infrastructure is fit for the next generation, and we understand how much our customers value receiving a bill that’s correct and only charges them for the energy they’ve used. This is why we’ve been installing smart meters free of charge, for over ten years. We’re committed to giving our customers the best smart meter experience with hassle free installation, so you can save time and energy.

Smart meters are self-reading gas and electricity meters that show how much energy you’re using. All energy suppliers are installing them as a part of the UK Government’s initiative to roll out 53 million smart meters to homes and businesses by 2025.

We’re committed to playing our part in the Government’s rollout of SMETS2 (current generation) advanced metering systems, and we will take all reasonable steps to install a SMETS2 meter wherever a meter is replaced or where a meter is installed for the first time.

From July 2021, all energy suppliers must comply with new obligations, set out by Government in relation to the UK smart meter rollout program.  These obligations include annual installation targets for all suppliers in the market, based on the percentage of eligible meter points and the number of advanced meters already installed.

Our installation targets for the third scheme year (01 January 2024 – 31 December 2024) are as follows:

Electricity: 0 meter points
Gas: 632 meter points

Benefits Of Smart Meters:

Smart meters are designed to make life easier for businesses. Once connected:

  • We’ll automatically receive regular smart meter readings
  • You won’t need to send us manual meter readings
  • You’ll get more accurate bills and only be charged for the energy you’ve used

We automatically receive readings from your smart meter, and how often we receive your readings is up to you; you can choose from monthly, daily, or half-hourly. Not only does a smart meter help improve the accuracy of your bills and reduce the need for you to send us a reading, but it also gives you the chance to reduce your energy usage and save money, by allowing you to monitor how and when your business consumes gas and electricity.
