BES employees put their aprons on for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

On Friday, BES Utilities took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, and raised £150 for MacMillan Cancer Support.

BES employees brought in a huge array of delicious home-baked treats including Mars bar crispy cake, Oreo fudge, and spaghetti and meatball cupcakes – which looked extremely realistic! There were also lots of shop bought treats such as donuts and muffins, which were on sale throughout the day.

There was a prize for the Star Baker, which was won by Settlements Analyst, Annabel Isherwood, who baked a mouth-watering sticky ginger cake which went down a treat.

“Once again, we’re blown away by the generosity of our employees here at BES,” said Joel Chapman, Head of Communications at BES.

“The Macmillan Coffee Morning is an event which is loved by everyone, and as well as raising money for a really worthy cause, it brings a sense of community to the office as everyone loves to get involved.

“It’s been a tough few months for everyone, so it was lovely to see the whole office get together over coffee and cake – all socially distanced of course!”

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, which first took place in 1990, is an annual event by Macmillan Cancer Support which hosts coffee mornings across the UK, raising £27.4m last year. According to Macmillan, one in two people are affected by cancer in their lifetime, and the charity provides physical, financial and emotional support to help people live their lives to the full.
