Staff at Fylde-coast based at BES Utilities have been putting the fun into fundraising in support of local girl, Isabelle Grundy.
Five-year-old Isabelle, who is suffering from a rare and aggressive childhood cancer, has been undergoing a range of intensive therapies since being diagnosed last summer. Her parents are now fundraising to take her to the United States for potentially lifesaving treatment, currently not available in the UK.
Last Friday, BES staff from across the company’s Fleetwood and Manchester offices took part in a range of fundraising activities, including a ‘dress-down’ day, bake sale, and a variety of games. By the close of business, the team collected an amazing £905 in aid of Isabelle’s appeal, almost doubling their original target of £500! BES will be combining this amount with funds raised during the company’s recent Christmas raffle, donating a total of £1,695 towards Isabelle’s overall target of £200,000.
Michelle Davidson, co-owner and Director of BES, said: “Everyone at BES has been so moved by Isabelle’s story, and it was fantastic to see the whole team come together in support of such an incredibly worthy cause. We all send our best wishes to Isabelle and her family as she takes the next step on her road to recovery.”
Kirby Ellis, one of the BES staff in charge of last week’s fundraiser, added: “I first heard about Isabelle’s story through a mutual friend, and I knew straight away my colleagues at BES would want to do something to help. With support from the management team, a small group of us got together to organize the event, and we’ve been blown away by everyone’s generosity. We especially want to thank all the local businesses who kindly donated prizes to help us raise money. We hope the amount donated will help Isabelle get the treatment she desperately needs.”
