Last Friday, BES Utilities took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, and raised over £200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
BES employees brought in a huge selection of delicious home-baked cakes and shop bought treats including Biscoff cupcakes, rocky road, biscuits, and cakes, which were on sale throughout the day.
There was also a prize for the Star Baker, which was won by Lauren Hopkins from the Change of Tenancy team who baked a mouth-watering chocolate cake which sold out in minutes.
Joel Chapman, Head of Communications at BES said, “Employees are at the heart of the company, and this is an event which is loved by all. As well as raising money for a great charity, it brings a real sense of community to the office as everyone gets involved, whether they’re baking, buying or eating.”
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, which first took place in 1990, is an annual event by Macmillan Cancer Support which hosts coffee mornings across the UK, raising almost £27 million last year. According to Macmillan, one in two people are affected by cancer in their lifetime, and the charity provides physical, financial and emotional support to help people live their lives to the full.
