New BES partnership accelerates nationwide smart meter installation

BES Metering Services is delighted to announce a new partnership with TVS Supply Chain Solutions, which will facilitate the installation of smart meters all over the country.

The contract will support BES Metering Services field engineers in installing electricity and gas smart meters to customers nationwide, as TVS Supply Chain Solutions (TVS SCS) will provide supply chain and logistics services, as well as the procurement and provision of associated smart metering products.

In a bid to lower energy usage, encourage renewable energy generation and tackle global warming, the Government has targeted the installation of more than 53 million smart meters in homes and businesses by the end of 2024, and BES is committed to supporting this initiative.

Michelle Davidson, Co-Owner and Director of BES Utilities, said: “We are thrilled to be working with TVS SCS to support our nationwide smart meter installations roll out. We recognise and appreciate their supply chain and logistics expertise, and this was fundamental in our decision to join forces. I’m confident this collaboration will result in an efficient and seamless process, providing our customers with first class service.”

TVS SCS will ensure BES Metering Services vans are fully equipped and they will deliver them to engineers up and down the country.

Andrew Jones, CEO of TVS Europe and North America, commented: “We are delighted to be working with BES Metering Services.  We have listened carefully to their requirements and developed a solution which will deliver high levels of efficiency and an end-to-end supply chain solution. We will take a partnership approach to the relationship to ensure that our new customer is delighted with the service we provide and the results that we deliver.”

Based in East Anglia, Meter Fitter Wayde Secker has worked in the industry for 10 years.

“I’ve never worked for an energy company who are in partnership with a logistics business, and I can’t wait to get started,” said Wayde. “The way the stock in our vans is replenished is going to save us so much time as it’s all done by an app. All I’ll have to do is log in and tell TVS when I’ve run out of something, and overnight they’ll restock my van wherever it’s parked, so I’ll be good to go to my first job in the morning. It seems like such an efficient way of working.”

“I’m really looking forward to working for BES Metering Services. Everyone is really friendly, and unlike previous jobs, I don’t just feel like a number,” added Karl Smith, who has worked in the industry for nine years and is based in Carlisle.

BES Metering Services is BES Utilities own specialist metering services division following the acquisition of an existing metering and asset management company based in the North West. Having a dedicated metering installation and servicing company strengthens BES’ smart meter offering.
